West Ealing Electrification Work April 2015 – January 2016

20 April 2015

Network Rail is undertaking works in your area on behalf of Crossrail, the new railway linking Reading and Heathrow in the west to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east, via new tunnels under central London.

As part of this project, it is necessary for Network Rail to carry out construction works which will enable the existing infrastructure to support the new Crossrail services. This particular work involves the installation of a transformer as

part of electrification of the route. The work is due to be undertaken in your area at times during the period from 29 April 2015 – 18 January 2016.

The majority of the works will be carried out Monday to Friday 08:00 – 18:00; Saturday 08:00-13:00, with some mobilisation and logistics support potentially taking place outside these hours. The work will be carried out using a variety of equipment including excavators, dumpers, brushcutters, chainsaws and hand tools.

Network Rail will endeavour to minimise any impact on local residents and briefings will be provided to those working on site about the need be considerate to our neighbours and keep noise to a minimum wherever possible. While the levels of disruption will vary, Network Rail does not expect these works to cause too much disturbance.

Crossrail Programme – West Ealing installing Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) structures

Network Rail is undertaking construction works in your area on behalf of the Crossrail Programme. The works will involve installing three piles into the ground and erecting metal structures to support overhead lines.

On 18 April Network Rail will be digging three trial holes to determine ground conditions for the upcoming piling works. These holes will be dug using hand tools and should not be a noisy activity. The works will be carried out between 22:00hrs and 10:00hrs beside the tracks near Waitrose.

On the next weekend; Sunday 26 April between 07:00hrs to 11:00hrs, Network Rail will carry out the piling works roughly behind the Waitrose store. The piling works are hoped to be completed by 11:00hrs to minimise disruption to shoppers/residents. Between 11:00hrs and 22:00hrs, the OLE structures will be erected. This again uses hand tools and should not be intrusive.

During the week commencing 27 April, Network Rail will be changing 4 sleepers during a weekday night shift. This will take place on either Wednesday 29 or Thursday 30 April between 23:00hrs to 05:00hrs.

On 9 &10 May and 16 &17 May between 22:00hrs and 08:00hrs Network Rail will be installing the metalwork onto the masts and gantries that were installed on 26 April and running cables through the steelwork hangers.

Network Rail understands that some of these works may cause disruption for neighbours in the vicinity. While the levels of disruption will vary, there will be periods of intense activity. However, we will endeavour to minimise any impacts on local residents and briefings will be provided to those working on site about the need be considerate to our neighbours and keep noise to a minimum wherever possible.
